That should not be happening at all; what flags (if any) are you passing
to the configure script?  Also, can you send me the location of the file on your system?

That is not a bad idea; would you be willing to start that process?  As I
mentioned before I am swamped with other tasks, so the automake/autoconf
stuff has been badly neglected.
