The sources file and the hyphen instead of a period was the problem.

My mistake.  It's amazing how many times you can proofread something
and still miss the errors. I searched for errors in the sources.list
file, at least 8 different times...

"Onward through the fog"  as my hippy friends used to say... <grin>
