"Strongly recommend", not "require". ;-) See my message a couple of minutes ago with a possible patch to allow HAL support to be disabled. Believe me, if there was a stable and full featured replacement for HAL I would migrate to it immediately. When DeviceKit is, for example, balking at adding backlight control to the power saving module (!?!??) I get rather concerned about the entire HAL "replacement". Tim
