+1.  I would have likely checked it in to GIT already if it wasn't frozen...

Remember that while the GIT tree is frozen the best thing to do is create
a bug report and upload the patch, then mark the bug report as PATCHAVAIL.
 When GIT thaws there will be a large import of all the patches with that
flag on the bugtracker.
