Do you have a reference about it no longer being maintained?  The most 
recent version is 2.3.21 from April 2010.  That's not really old.  Prior 
versions and dates are:

2.3.20      30-Jan-2008
2.3.19      28-Feb-2007

so it's not updated often, but it still gets updated occasionally.

Can you give me a pointer to the patches you mention?  I can't find 
libart-lgpl in git.
