Aha, my conclusion is incorrect. :) Looks like Qt4 was around in late 2005: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qt_%28framework%29#Current. Same article, I read the following: "The next major version of Qt will be Qt 5. It is expected to be released in 2012. This new version will mark a major change of paradigm in the platform, with hardware-accelerated graphics...." I wonder whether than means hardware graphics acceleration will become a requirement to use Qt5 based apps. The GNOME developers traveled that same road with GNOME 3. Darrell
