I'm having the same problem even with Qt3:

checking for KDE... configure: error:
I can't find the designer plugins. These are required and should have been 
installed
by kdelibs
==> ERROR: A failure occurred in build().
     Aborting...
==> ERROR: Build failed, check /home/david/bld/david/build

I'll have to look into this later. Unless you solve it first :)
