I think I found the problem:

I can't find the designer plugins. These are required and should have been installed
by kdelibs

  It seems to be looking for kdewidgets.la which is in
/opt/trinity/lib/trinity/plugins/designer/kdewidgets.la. I've tried:

./configure --prefix=/opt/trinity --with-qt-dir=/opt/qt3
--with-extra-libs=/opt/trinity/lib/trinity

still won't find it. Any ideas?
