I use Slavek's patches on 3.5.13 here, they are really good .I know
they are for 3.5.13 improvements and renaming might be outside that
scope.

For the future (if /opt will still be used) the proposed renaming with
 a symlink at /usr/bin/tdm (at least for Debian packages) and for
/etc/init.d/tdm to exist, could work and help TDE acceptance among
Debian users.
