How about kdelibs+kdebase without arts.  That gives konsole and 
konqueror.  What else is needed?  koffice?  kpdf?  kmail?  A couple of 
apps from kdepim?

Not everything needs to be Trinity.  Other apps such as FF and OO are 
useful in an office environment.
