at least for KDE Plasma this is not true - we do not demand 3D graphics
acceleration in the 4.x series. I'm happy to help you setting this up
correctly (the defaults are rather unsuited for Terminal servers) or to point
you to people who can help you there. Feel free to contact me off-list.
Nevertheless I need to point out that X11 is unfortunately although claimed
otherwise completely unsuited for terminal setups. It mostly works because
bandwith is enough, but in general it just sucks. There is some good material
on that topic by X developers :-)
