On my system they are not that small, I would say they are a little 
small. I think it also depends on the font settings of your browser.
Anyhow at the top of each etherpad there is the zoom dropbox, where you can easily select a different zoom level.
Perhaps
 we could add some more options there since it seems there are big 
interals: 85% - 100% - 115% - 150% - ....  Maybe a 125% and 140% would 
also be helpful for somebody
