What about videos in kaboodle?

I am discovering that some user accounts can open both apps but
some accounts can't. On the accounts that I can open both, I can
get both to play audio files, but I can't get kaboodle to play
video files. Just hangs.

The apps work in 3.5.13.2 so I don't think that is the problem.
Even if that was the problem, I'd expect the apps do just do
nothing rather than freeze and hang. I also would expect some spew
in the xsession-error log but there is nothing. I build all of my
packages with debugging enabled.

Deleting rc files makes no difference.
