As you see in attachment, the message from Timothy Pearson have a field like
"Message-ID: <16c31296084a3b3a5d9129e934d34972xxxxx", and in your mesage
exists a field like "In-Reply-To: <16c31296084a3b3a5d9129e934d34972xxxx".
Email clients using these fields to group in logical manner the discussion
thread. So, changing the subject is not enough to break the thread.
