Sorry, it's not an environment variable. :-)  I was unclear about that.

It's an internal CMake variable--you can see it in the CMakeLists.txt file
I linked to.

Can you post your CMake log file?  Also interesting would be the file that
contains the internal CMake variables, though I forget the name of it.
